what sets Figure Eight apart
Figure Eight is Southern Alberta’s go-to for premium metal polishing and finishing, trusted in a province running over 18,000 active fleets where equipment appearance is part of your reputation. We provide both mobile and in-house polishing, delivering the same controlled, high-standard results whether the work happens on your site or in our shop. Behind the scenes, we’re constantly testing compounds, refining processes, and pushing techniques beyond what’s considered “industry standard” to achieve a cleaner, sharper, more disciplined finish.
In this industry, perception matters. Well-maintained equipment that breaks down gets understanding. Neglected-looking equipment that fails gets written off, and it doesn’t stop there. Equipment that looks poorly maintained is far more likely to draw attention during roadside inspections and DOT checks.
A polished, professionally maintained fleet signals care, discipline, and accountability before a word is ever spoken. Figure Eight makes sure your equipment speaks the right language every time.
MEtal polishing packages

Auction prep
3 Step sanding & 2 step buff
Our auction prep package is designed for two things: Helping your equipment sell faster while supporting a higher return at auction
Everything in this package is built around what buyers actually see, utilizing a 3-step sand followed by a 2-step cut and color process to significantly restore clarity, depth, and reflectivity to visible metal surfaces dulled by oxidation and wear, with no disassembly, no hidden areas, and no chasing deep pitting or heavy scratches. Only accessible, seen surfaces are addressed the ones that photograph clean, catch light, and shape first impressions on the auction floor.
This package can typically range between $1800-$2,500 depending on truck configuration
What's included?
- Acid bath
- Sanding (320-600 grit)
- 2 step Cut and Color

Figure Eight Finish
5 Step sanding & 3 step buff
Designed to keep your competitors looking second best, this package begins with a complete acid wash and breakdown, dis-assembling any removable components and wheels allowing unrestricted access to every surface so prep and polishing are preformed to standard without compromise.
This package prioritizes preparation methodically sanding down every aluminum and stainless surface to a consistent even finish methodically removing heavier defects such as rock and salt pitting, chemical staining and oxidation. Refinement is carried out through multiple polishing stages typically 3 but can sometimes run up to 6 stages depending in your desired finish and the piece at hand to achieve a true mirror finish with consistent clarity, depth and reflection beyond what other polishers can achieve
This package can typically range between $2,900-$3,700 depending on truck configuration
What's included?
- Acid bath
- Dis-assembly
- Sanding (80-800 grit)
- 3-6 stage Cut/Color/Finish
Every polishing job starts with the same foundation: proper assessment, controlled preparation, and a clear end goal. Condition, material, access, and expectations all determine how far a component can and should be taken.
The packages below are structured benchmarks, not shortcuts. Each represents a defined level of sanding and polishing intensity designed to produce consistent, repeatable results. Final scope is always guided by the component itself, because no two pieces respond the same once the process begins.
Custom Polishing solutions

Our custom component polishing service is designed for loose parts dropped off or shipped in prior to re-installation. We have the necessary equipment required to handle auxiliary engine components, fuel tanks, steps, boxes, moose bumpers, headache racks, exhaust piping, wheels, and custom-fabricated pieces without being mounted, applying controlled sanding and multi-stage polishing to restore clarity, uniformity, and reflectivity across every accessible surface. Working on components off the vehicle allows for full access, consistent pressure, and a higher level of finish than on-vehicle polishing ever allows.
Whether parts are delivered locally or shipped in from out of area, each component is processed in-house using dedicated equipment and disciplined procedures, then returned clean, uniform, and ready for install.
This service is for those who don’t want to compromise the final result by cutting corners before the truck is finished.

These rates are typical, but larger-than-normal pieces and pieces that otherwise require additional prep work (acid washing, sanding, removal and reinstall, etc.) can result in additional costs. Specialty projects are estimated on a by-piece basis but may be charged on an hourly basis depending on your budget and expectations for the completed work. Hourly projects start at $125/hr. Shop supplies are added to all totals on a percentage basis to help cover the rising costs of buffing wheels, sandpaper, compound, and other essentials.
